Labour has named Batley & Spen MP Tracy Brabin as its new shadow education minister, with responsibility for early years.

 

The previous shadow early years minister, Tulip Siddiq, resigned from the role in January over the Article 50 vote in parliament.

 

Brabin was elected as an MP in October 2016 in the by-election triggered by the murder of Jo Cox.

 

She has previously worked as an actress and scriptwriter, appearing in Coronation Street, Eastenders and Casualty in the past.

 

On Twitter, Brabin said: 鈥淪o proud to be given Shadow Minister for Early Years + congratulations to all colleagues joining front bench.鈥�

 

Neil Leitch, chief executive of the 无码天堂, welcomed the appointment.
