Domestic abuse programmes

Partner: Lewisham Council in partnership with both the Home Office and What Works for Children’s Social Care

Location: Lewisham, London

Project:

Our service has a particular focus on supporting children who have experienced or witnessed domestic violence and abuse.

We offer the CODA Programme (Children Overcoming Domestic Abuse) for children and young people affected by domestic abuse, and their mothers. The course validates children's experiences, reduces self-blame, helps manage emotions and prepares for future safety planning. We have a multi-agency approach to delivering the programme with us, with key stakeholders which includes AVA, Children's Social Care, the Police, Schools and community organisations.

We also offer the Freedom Programme which helps women who have experienced domestic abuse to understand what happened to them, how it happened, understand the impact on their children, and then move forward confidently and safely into their futures.

The beneficiaries are children and families in the London Borough of Lewisham, but we are also able to provide a service in other boroughs on request. Please contact us for a discussion.

Children and Young People Improved Access to Psychological Therapies (CYP IAT)

Partner: Lewisham Council

Location: London Borough of Lewisham

Project:

We offer a wide range of parenting programmes which promote attachment, attunement and positive relationships between parent and child, and help parents learn new skills to support their child’s behaviour.

As part of the CYP IAPT Programme in the borough, we deliver specialist parenting programmes for children with conduct disorder or particular behavioural issues as well as support for parents. This includes the group based Incredible Years Parenting Programme and one to one Personalised Intensive Parent Training (PIPT). These are evidence-based programmes using nationally recognised Routine Outcome Measures (ROM).

In addition, as part of the wider parenting offer supporting CYP IAPT, we deliver a range of Triple P parenting programmes, including Discussion Groups on topics such as bedtime routines, group-based and 1:1 Triple P which supports positive parenting for parents of 2-10 year olds, and Teen Triple P for parents of 10-14 year olds.

The beneficiaries are children and families in the London Borough of Lewisham, but we are also able to provide a service in other boroughs on request. Please contact us for a discussion.

  • progression into self-employment
  • progression into training
  • progression from economically inactive to active jobsearch.

BBO funding has now ceased. For more information on this project please contact Gary Croxon, Business Manager on gary.croxon@eyalliance.org.uk or 020 7697 2587.

Community Connections North

Partner: The Consultancy Home Counties Ltd (TCHC)

Location: Greater Cambridgeshire, Greater Peterborough

Project dates: 2016-2023

Project:

Participants were encouraged to engage in community events and take on volunteering roles to help them develop their confidence, gain experience and feel connected to their community, with the ultimate goal to help them find employment.

Anyone aged 15 or at a disadvantage when finding employment — this could be due to a disability, learning difficulty, claiming benefits or economically inactive or have a wide range of other issues — could benefit from this project.

Seven  organisations from different sectors, each with its own specialist area of focus, worked together to meet the multiple and complex needs of participants leaving a lasting legacy.

We encouraged participants to engage in community events and take on volunteering opportunities to gain important experience and feel more connected with their communities. Participants became more connected to the local labour market, more connected to local services and support organisations were better connected.

Our focus was on families and the barriers to employment, training or job search.  Working with local early years providers, we supported families to access childcare and understand the funding available to allow them to undertake training, job search or employment.

As a training provider of early years qualifications we also supported them into apprenticeships or qualification training.

BBO funding has now ceased. For more information on this project please contact Gary Croxon, Business Manager on gary.croxon@eyalliance.org.uk or 020 7697 2587.
