Government to launch consultation on children鈥檚 centres

Sep 10, 2015The Department for Education will launch an open consultation about children鈥檚 centres, childcare minister Sam Gyimah has announced.
In an open letter, Mr Gyimah wrote: 鈥淭his will be a consultation that will offer parents, carers, local authorities and key stakeholders the opportunity to influence and drive what we expect from children鈥檚 centre services and where we see them collectively having the greatest impact.
鈥淲e want to hear views from everyone who accesses, works in or oversees children鈥檚 centres.鈥
Mr Gyimah added that 鈥渢he barometer of whether we are doing well is not the number of centres open but the services they provide and the impact of those services鈥.
He confirmed that the launch date of the consultation would follow.
