New Woods Childcare is an ÎÞÂëÌìÌà childcare service located in Nottinghamshire.
We offer 49 Ofsted-registered places and are assessed as 'Good' by Ofsted. Our committed, friendly and well-qualified nursery team provides high quality care and learning opportunities for children aged between 0-11 years. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) with a focus on learning through play and actively encourage parents to become involved in the life of the nursery.

We are open from 7:45am - 6pm Monday to Friday, 51 weeks of the year, excluding bank holidays and three staff training days.

Holiday club
We offer childcare in the school holidays and do lots of exciting activites and crafts.
The children enjoy exploring outside and making obstacle courses and getting messy in the mud kitchen making mud pies. We have lots of different resources in our water and all different types of construction that all our children enjoy being creative with. If you are interested in our holiday club, give us a call and speak to a staff member about sessions and prices.

We have a visit from Ofsted in January and we are pleased to tell you we were graded a ‘Good’.
Activities
We have been doing some activites related to the lovely book 'We're going on a bear hunt'. The children in Pre-school have enjoyed learning the story and going on bear hunts- now it is the toddler children to listen, learn and go on bear hunts. We have also celebrated the year of the pig for Chinese New Year- we made some wonderful pig masks.
Thank you to all who attended our Christmas Craft day- we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. We got very messy making lots of Christmas Crafts.
Thank you to everyone who joined in and supported our 'Welly Walk' in October we raised a massive £600 which will buy us some lovely new toys for nursery.
Our Pre-school Children have been learning about people in the community who help us- look at the wonderful role play area, the children enjoy prenteding to be doctors and nurses and look after each other. We also joined the school when the fire engine visited and the children sat in the fire engine and looked at all of the fire equiptment.
Look at the fun we have had over the holidays...
We have been very busy this term in the garden, we have been doing lots of planting, growing and digging. Take a look at our lovely garden. Our caterpillars have grown into beautiful butterflys and have now been released.

We're Going on a Bear Hunt here at New Woods Childcare have a look at what fun we have had so far.To celebrate World Book Day 2018 we have decided to have a full week of We're Going on a Bear Hunt activites so don't forget on the 1st March to bring in your own bear and dress in your pyjama's and we will have more adventures on our Bear Hunts...

About us
New Woods Childcare offers a stimulating approach to early years development and learning for very young children. Within a safe, friendly and fun environment, children are supported by qualified, caring staff in developing a wide range of skills and interests. The children enjoy learning through play experiences in bright indoor and outdoor play areas with exciting outings planned regularly.
We are managed by the ÎÞÂëÌìÌÃ, one of the largest providers of childcare in England with over 50 years experience delivering childcare and practical, professional support to early years practitioners.
Our nursery plans its activities in accordance with the EYFS with a strong focus on exploratory, imaginative play and healthy eating. We recognise and understand the huge benefits that free flow play has on the positive development of very young children. Every child in our care is supported by a key person who understands their individual needs and offers special care and support to them.
Our families have created some lovely cakes together to promote their child's fine motor skills and creative development.
Rigorous health & safety and safeguarding policies and procedures are in place to ensure that every child is protected and feels safe and happy with us. The setting is based within New Woods Children's Centre and has a strong link with the Centre and we are attached to Healdswood Infant and Nursery school which supports and allows for easy transitioning for those children starting school. We have had an inspection from the Food Standards Agency this March 2019 and we are happy to say we did well and remain with a score of 5.

Our Team
Our well qualified, committed and experienced team work hard to create a caring and learning environment in the nursery. We know that every child develops differently and at different times. Every child has a key person who understands their individual needs and interests. This helps us to ensure that every child feels involved, stimulated and happy in our care.
We follow rigorous staff recruitment, selection and supervision procedures to ensure that anyone joining our team undertakes relevant security checks including Disclosure and Barring Service disclosure, references and qualification checks. Parents are reassured knowing that child protection and safeguarding underpins every aspect of our practice and will continue to remain a priority for us.

Your 'key person'
Every child who joins the nursery receives support from an experienced member of the team. They are responsible for your child’s individual needs and known as the ‘key person’. The key person is your main point of contact however all nursery staff are happy to feedback on your child’s developmental progress on a daily basis or discuss any concerns with you. They will also keep records of your child’s progress and achievement, which are always available for you to see and contribute towards.
Your child’s key person will make time to find out from you about your child’s interests, likes, dislikes and special requirements. Please share any important or useful information when you register your child and throughout their time with us. This helps us to give your child the most appropriate care and learning to suit their developmental, emotional and physical needs. You can access and contribute your views to your child's progress and achievements in their records.

FAQs
Do you offer funded entitlement for 3 year olds?
Children are eligible for the funding in the term following their third birthday. The funding is available for 15 hours per week.
Do you offer funded entitlement for 2 year olds?
If your child is two-years old, your child may be eligible to attend the 2 year old funded childcare programme. The funding is available for 15 hours per week. Please ask us.
What sessions do you offer?
Nursery School, Open all year, Full Day Care, Sessional Day Care
Do you provide hot meals?
We only provide children with snacks during the day - we are aware of all children's dietary requirements therefore we ensure that they are catered for accordingly.
Are you able to accommodate children with different dietary requirements?
Yes, please speak to a member of staff if your child has specific dietary requirements.
What qualifications do your staff have?
Our highest qualified staff member has a degree in Early childhood studies with Early years professional status, 6 staff members are level 3 qualified and 1 unqualified staff member currently working towards her level 3 in childcare. All staff are trained in Safeguarding Children, First Aid and Food Safety.
How many staff will be looking after my child?
All children will have a key person and depending on the age of your child the adult to child ratios differ-
Children aged 0-2 years the ratio is 1:3
Children aged 2-3 years the ratio is 1:4
Children aged 3+ the ratio is 1:8
How quickly can my child start?
We are keen that every child feels settled, happy and secure in our childcare. We want to make the big step from home into childcare a positive experience for everyone.
Once your child is offered a place, you and your child start a ‘settling in’ process that is based on your child’s needs.
We help your child settle comfortably by:
- Recognising that some children take longer to settle than others.
- Encouraging your child to develop a special relationship with their key person so they feel secure in our care.
- Introducing your child to our daily routine and the environment at different times of the day so they feel reassured and familiar with different sessions.
- Making you feel welcome to stay with your child at the beginning over a period of time and different times of the day. Over time you can gradually spend longer periods apart until your child is ready to start their daily session without you.
- Talking with you regularly about the best way to settle your child and listening to your queries or concerns. We want you to feel confident and relaxed when you leave your child in our care.
- Your child only officially starts with us when they complete their first short session happily without you.
