Ladywell Pre-school proudly presents our Nature Reserve / Forest Cafe

At LADYWELL PRE-SCHOOL WE WORK OFF OF CREATIVE POSITIVE ENERGY!
During the pandemic when indoor trips were a big NO NO we decided to make our own trip facilities onsite, by re vamping our corridor that housed bags and coats into our own Nature reserve and Forest Cafe.

Remembrance Day

On Armistice Day we decided to focus on one person from WW2. Ena Collymore-Woodstock OBE is believed to be the oldest surviving female veteran of the British Army at 103. We had many discussions with the children about Ena and the meaning behind the poppy.

It was fantastic to hear the children could recall the information.

It was also lovely to hear some children already knew the meaning of the poppy.

On November 11th, we spent the day playing on the battle field, making poppies and most importantly we are so proud that all children took part in 2 minutes silence at 11am.

Parent involvement

  • At Ladywell Pre-school, over the years, parents have been actively involved with event planning, gardening, creating and fundraising. All of this is arranged in the Parent Forums planned and run by parents.
  • We welcome parents to come and join in sessions to take part in messy play, story time, cooking, and share their talents.
  • We have been lucky to have a parent build the wonderful mud kitchen for the children to enjoy in the garden.
  • Ask staff about how you can get involved

  Learning and Development

At Ladywell Pre-school we are passionate about providing a secure place for your child to thrive and develop to their potential. We work hard to provide an environment that is warm, welcoming and     nurturing that facilitates a sense of belonging. Our recent identifies how we do this.

"Staff are attune to the needs of new children settling in. Staff put children at ease quickly and encourage them to play and explore their new surroundings".

"Staff are extremely welcoming to new parents. Parents are kept up to date about their children's progress and know how staff intend to further extend children's skills".

"Children quickly build good relationships with the warm, friendly and approachable staff. Staff provide a secure base from which children venture away to explore or seek to join in the play of others".

About us

We offer a child centered environment both outdoors and indoors. We emphasise on self-selection and child lead activities throughout our sessions.

  • Children are supported by well experienced and qualified staff
  • We have a strong focus on outdoor learning as we believe its beneficial for many reasons.

Roald Dahl once said, “The more risks you allow children to take, the better they learn to take care of themselves.”

Outdoor learning has many positives such as:

  • Increased motivation
  • Better attitudes about the environment
  • Better overall behaviour
  • Enhanced communication skills
  • Increase in outdoor skills
  • Encourage holistic development of children
  • Develop a love, appreciation and respect for nature and all that is living
  • Develop a lifelong love of the outdoors

Ladywell Pre-school Vision

  • Children feel welcome and valued by creating a safe and stimulating environment for them to learn and develop in.
  • Have a relaxed approach to work with parents and families, to provide the best childcare to meet individual needs.
  • Access the resources and facilities within the centre and the local community, promoting physical and emotional well-being.

Rigorous health & safety and safeguarding policies and procedures are in place to ensure that every child is protected and feels safe and happy with us.

“Children are treated with respect and patience at all times and know that Ladywell Pre-school is a safe place to explore, experiment and learn new skills.” (Love this one!) - Parent feedback 2018

Ladywell Pre-school and Alexander Care Home

Ladywell preschool is proud to have formed a community partnership with Alexander care home. We believe both children and residents will gain valuable experience from the partnership allowing the residents to feel included in activities and giving the children the opportunity to gain empathy, confidence, inclusion & integration skills. During each of the visit the children and residents take part in a number of activities such as craft making, storytelling, exploring the outdoor areas. The time the children and residents spend together is extremely special and it’s helping to bridge a gap between generations.

Our Team

Our well qualified, committed and experienced team work hard to create a caring and learning environment in the Pre-school. We know that every child develops differently and at different times. Every child has a key person who understands how their individual needs and interests. This helps us to ensure that every child feels involved, stimulated and happy in our care.

We follow rigorous staff recruitment, selection and supervision procedures to ensure that anyone joining our team undertake relevant security checks including Disclosure and Barring Service disclosure, references and qualification checks. Parents are reassured knowing that child protection and safeguarding underpins every aspect of our practice and will continue to remain a priority for us.

Your child's 'key person'

Every child who joins the Pre-school receives support from an experienced member of the team. They are responsible for your child’s individual needs and known as the ‘key person’. The key person is your main point of contact however all Pre-school staff are happy to feedback on your child’s developmental progress on a daily basis or discuss any concerns with you. They will also keep records of your child’s progress and achievement, which are always available for you to see and contribute towards.

Your child’s key person will make time to find out from you about your child’s interests, likes, dislikes and special requirements. Please share any important or useful information when you register your child and throughout their time with us. This helps us to give your child the most appropriate care and learning to suit their developmental, emotional and physical needs. You can access and contribute your views to your child's progress and achievements in their records.
